Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Rotodyne. DESCRIPTION: The Small World drifted some twelve hundred miles from Tenerife, then ditched in the sea. They cut the balloon adrift and sailed on in the small gondola. It was a fine achievement by these four British adventurers to reach Barbados safely. The Fairey Rotodyne vertical take-off and landing airliner has set a world record of 190.9 miles an hour over a closed circuit course. Finally, this is Britain’s English Electric Lightning fighter, originally known as the P1. It can fly at twice the speed of sound, between 12 and 14 hundred miles an hour. SHOTLIST: MS Rotodyne with rotor turning. Elevated shot same. MS wing flaps turning. MS Rotodyne takes off. MS pan - Rotodyne in flight. Elevated shot pan Rotodyne flies over. Same.
