Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Yachting Scene. DESCRIPTION: Ships of a bygone age prepared to set sail again - Square riggers from six European countries took part in a sailing race to the Canaries. They are all training ships. So, it was off from Brest and out towards the Atlantic, with the Canary Islands some 13 hundred miles and 12 sailing days ahead. . Now to Southampton, where the Cunard Freighter Alsatia took aboard the 90 foot mast of Britain’s challenger for the America’s Cup. Sceptre herself was hauled up by the floating crane. Britain has never won the America’s Cup, so Sceptre’s challenge will be eagerly followed by everyone at home. Lets go over to Cowes where Britannia was anchored and where Prince Philip had been giving his son some more sailing experience. The Prince of Wales was seen aboard Bluebottle. Prince Philip’s yachting adviser, Mr Uffa Fox, was there to give advice, and his sailing Master Lieutenant, Commander Easton. SHOTLIST: MS yacht through rigging (2). BS yacht. MS men at winch.
