- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Le Mans Race. DESCRIPTION: Fifty-five starters dashed to their cars for the start of one of the most gruelling contests in the motor-racing calendar: the twenty-four-hour Le Mans race. One accident was fatal and the French driver, Brousselet, lost his life. His car collided with that of the American, Kessler, who was injured. The last three races had been won by a Jaguar. But, by nightfall this year, hopes of a British win had almost faded. The victory went to the Ferrari (number 14) driven by Gendebien and co-driver Hill. The Whiteheads’ Aston Martin took second place. SHOTLIST: MS start of race. Cars round bend. MS race (5). MS wrecked car. CU same. MS same (2). MS cars pass camera. GV race in rain. Same.
