Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Ghana Parliament. DESCRIPTION: The celebrations in Ghana lasted about a week. There was for example a great gathering of tribal chiefs. Parliament House was the scene of the climax of Ghana’s celebrations. The Duchess of Kent went to perform the opening of the first session of the Parliament of Ghana. Afterwards the rejoicing continued in the streets of Accra, the capital, and when the Prime Minister Dr Nkrumah drove past he was given a great ovation. SHOTLIST: Tribal chiefs parading. LS Parliament Square. Bands in parade. Duchess of Kent arrives. Ghana flag. Interiors - Duchess seated in parliament reading Queen’s message. Various shots of crowds running alongside Nkrumah’s car and cheering.
