Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Tour. Queen at Cocos Islands and Ceylon. DESCRIPTION: A brief halt at the Cocos Islands in the Indian Ocean followed the Australian tour. They were met by their hosts Mr and Mrs Clunies-Ross. A great welcome was in store for Her Majesty and the Duke at Ceylon, which began when the royal couple went ashore - to be welcomed by the Governor-General, Lord Soulbury and the Prime Minister Sir John Kotelawala. One of the first engagements in Colombo was the opening of Parliament at which ceremony, Her Majesty wore her Coronation gown. SHOTLIST: Cut story - GV of Cocos Islands. View along beach.
