MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Volcano Threat in Java & Alaska. DESCRIPTION: In Central Java, a mountain threatens to erupt, and scientists have been trying to estimate the degree of violence likely to occur. Eighty miles West of Anchorage, Alaska, three formerly inactive Aleutian peaks have been observed to be threatening eruption for the first time. SHOTLIST: Java - GV volcano in action. Scientists climb tower to observe Mount Marapi. Javanese dig trenches to stem lava flow. Alaska - Various shots of three volcanoes erupting. Sulphurous smoke and lava sweeps across Elemdorf Airfield. Men try to clear same. Powerful jet disperser used.
