Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Canberra’s Record. DESCRIPTION: When the Canberra jet-bomber came down at Aldergrove in Northern Ireland, one of its wings had been damaged in a collision with a seagull. The Canberra, however, was repaired in time to make the record-breaking trip to Gander, Newfoundland. Earl Granville, Governor of Northern Ireland was there to wish Squadron-Leader Callard and his comrades good luck. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. SCU Canberra flies overhead towards camera. Canberra lands, taxies, SCU damaged wing. Nigh-workmen cutting out damaged wing & repairing. Callard & his crew talk (silent) with ‘met’ (Meteorological) officers. Pointing with pencil to map. Canberra wheeled out of hangar. SCU neatly patched wing. Fuel being loaded aboard. Crew with Earl Granville, Governor of Northern Ireland. Callard climbs aboard plane. GS Canberra begins run & takes off past camera. Canberra out of camera.
