Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Commentary to Help Actors’ Orphans. DESCRIPTION: This year, the famous Theatrical Garden Party has a new title - Theatre and Film Carnival; it was aid of the Actors’ Orphanage and there was a galaxy of stars collecting funds at Roehampton. SHOTLIST: This year, the famous Theatrical Garden Party had a new title - "Theatre and Film Carnival" it was of course in aid of the Actors’ Orphanage, of which Noel Coward is the president. Douglas Montgomery was one of a galaxy of stars collecting funds at Roehampton; Moira Lister was another, Sam Costa was ready to sell anything but his moustache, Valerie Hobson was also present working for the charity, and Bebe Daniels, here seen selling ice-cream to her daughter, Barbara Lyon (and making her pay for it, too). Phew! It was all very hard work, believe me. GV Leslie Mitchell. There was a "Circus of stars", including Jimmy Hanley, Roger Livesey and Doris Hare; and, at a price, you could dance with Cesar Romero - what a thrill, what bliss, what a swoon!
