Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Last British Troops Home From Greece. DESCRIPTION: At Southampton the 1st Battalion of the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment arrive home from Greece in the Empire Windrush. At Bury St Edmunds the battalion march to their new quarters, where a civic reception had been laid on. SHOTLIST: KS. MS "Empire Windrush". GV "Empire Windrush" approaching quay. Gangway being attached. Lt Colonel Rossiter walks down gangway to be greeted by Lt General Denning. CU same shaking hands. GV quayside troops present arms. Cut-in Denning saluting. Troops off ship & various shots of troops, relatives & other personnel off ship & being greeted by relatives etc. Mix to Bury St Edmunds, troops (elevated GV) marching through streets to Town Hall. Several shots of them paraded in front of Town Hall with Mayor on dais in background. At Southampton, Denning inspects troops.
