Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Test Match Wash-Out. DESCRIPTION: Australia’s Barnes took the full force of a ball while fielding and was carried from the field. Later he tried to bat but collapsed at the wicket. England were on top when the weather intervened and their chance of victory seen to recede. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS GV pavilion and crowds. MS Loxton tries to catch a stray dog on pitch, throws cap at it. Dog runs on dodging various players. Cut-ins crowds laughing at incident. SCU Pollard hitting ball very hard, cut to Sidney Barnes staggering about pitch & collapsing. Four policemen carry Barnes off pitch, Don Bradman following. Morris and Ian Johnson walk on to bat. SCU Barnes batting. Crowds watching. Barnes collapses again. Barnes assisted off field. GV play in progress. Into camera Keith Miller bowling. Out of camera Miller bowling both bumpers. SCU Bill Edrich ducking to miss bumper (x2). SCU Cyril Washbrook ducking to miss bumper. Covers over pitch & rain falling. Crowds in rain. GV empty seats. GV empty seats, raining hard, one person seated right in the front row.
