- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Operation Longstop. DESCRIPTION: An exercise in invasion by parachute, not just troops but equipment are dropped. General Montgomery and foreign observers watched the progress of the exercise. SHOTLIST: KS Over camera three Dakotas. GV Dakotas lined up on tarmac. SCU paratrooper lacing his kit on his body. Jeeps towed under fuselage, jeeps being hauled up into position under fuselage. Shot of jeep under fuselage in position. Halifax planes take off, Dakotas taking off one after the other. CU cockpit of Halifax. Flying interior shot of plane looking forward. Paratroopers standing ready to jump. LAS paratroopers jumping, one after the other. Interior from plane of troops jumping and floating to earth. Shot from ground. SCU troops actually leaving plane, jumping one after the other. GV Halifaxes passing overhead, jeeps, guns etc. dropped on parachutes - several parachutes to each piece of equipment. GV jeeps, guns hitting the ground. Previously there are shots of paratroopers reaching ground, some have rough landing. On aerodrome, paratroopers double across and line up, then double off again, planes (Dakotas), in background, some still landing. Montgomery walks around looks at few planes. Foreign observers, all in uniform, watch proceedings. GV gliders towards camera landing on airfield. Panning shot of glider passing camera. Dakota comes low over airfield and snatches up a glider, shot of rope being picked up and take off by glider. Gliders are Horsas and Hamilcars.
