Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Family at Mountbatten’s Wedding. DESCRIPTION: Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret were bridesmaids at the wedding of Patricia Mountbatten to Lord Brabourne. The streets of Romsey were crowded with onlookers trying to catch a glimpse of the various members of the Royal Family who attended the wedding of Earl Mountbatten’s eldest daughter. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS Mountbatten Coat of Arms flying over the Abbey. Lord and Lady Mountbatten in civilian clothes leave Abbey, enter jeep and drive off. Public stand about Abbey grounds waiting, venders selling flags, streamers, etc. Elevated shots of streets decorated with bunting, cut-ins of crowded windows, people watching guests etc. arrive for wedding, several shots of window crowds. Elevated shot of Mayor and Corporation of Romsey passing through street in procession. Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Fisher walks in. Guests cars arrive, drive through cheering crowds. Lady Mountbatten and Hon. Pamela Mountbatten (bridesmaid), arrive, walk up drive to Abbey. Duchess of Kent and Princess Alexandra (bridesmaid) arrive, walk towards camera. At entrance of Abbey, are Prince Philip of Greece with other naval officers. Philip escorts Royal Family up drive towards Abbey. Prince Philip takes Princesses Elizabeth’s and Margaret’s fur coats as they enter Abbey (the Princesses are bridesmaids). Elevated shot of crowded streets and bride’s car driving through. Bride alighting, assisted by Lord Louis Mountbatten in naval uniform. Royal Standard flying over Abbey. Bride and groom walk out of Abbey past Guard of Honour. Petty Officer Holder presents lucky horseshoe to couple. Couple walk down drive out of camera towards car.
