Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: UNO Council Opens. DESCRIPTION: Hunter College, New York was the meeting place for the United Nations Security Council. When the Soviet delegation failed to achieve a postponement of the discussion on the Soviet-Persian dispute, Mr Gromyko lead them out. SHOTLIST: KS Elevated shot Hunter College. GV Hunter College. American public make their way to college, pass through barrier guarded by Marines. MS Marines at gate. GV United Nations flags spaced out round circular drive in front of college. Line of cars driving through grounds, small groups arrive. Group shot Dr Quo Tai-chi, Sir Alexander Cadogan, Mr Stettinius, Mr Gromyko and Mr Lie. Various cut-ins of groups of cameramen at work. American wounded soldiers enter college, followed by college students entering. Elevated GV of interior of assembly. Mr Byrnes addresses (commentary over speech). Several MS & CUs of Mr Gromyko. Various wide angle shots of Security Council sitting. Finish on Gromyko. SCU.
