Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Vienna Today Also English Taught in Schools. DESCRIPTION: Views of the Austrian capital show the damage it sustained during the war. Every single bridge across the Danube was destroyed before the Red Army captured the city. Another story from Vienna is about children who are learning English, an experiment which has proved popular. SHOTLIST: KS GV ruins of Vienna. Ruins of St Stephen’s Cathedral. GV ruins of Opera House. Tilt down of City Hall (Rathaus). Wrecked bridges across the River Danube. Remains of Schoenbrunn Castle, artillery scattered about the grounds. The Prater, amusement park, all entertainment that is not smashed remains idle. GV "Great Wheel" fade to elementary school, German teacher teaching young children English, one girl stands up says short rhyme in English about her parents etc. GV Class.
