MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Petain on Trial. DESCRIPTION: At the Palais de Justice Marshal Petain goes on trial charged with plotting against the internal security of his country and collaboration with the enemy. Among the chief witnesses for the prosecution were Albert Lebrun and Paul Reynaud. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV Palais de Justice. Black Maria arrives, drives through prison gates. Elevated shot of blocked windows, where Petain is living, French guards patrol roofs. Extra guards arrive at court. People entering main gate to attend trial. Inside, crowds stand waiting for Petain, who enters under escort, wearing one medal, "Medaille Militaire", cut-ins of witness, amongst whom is M Reynaud, M Lebrun. Various close-ups of Petain, also fumbling with papers. Clerk reads indictment, SV - CU of M Mongibeaux, the judge, various shots of Petain reading from prepared papers. Court, crowds cause disturbances, various shots.
