- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Boulogne Is Freed. DESCRIPTION: Heavy artillery firing from the Dover area bombarded the French channel ports. It was Canadian troops which captured Boulogne for the Allies, thus freeing another port for the movement of reinforcements and supplies. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Shell on truck to 15" gun. In Dover area, various shots of shells on trucks to their respective guns. Shots of 15" guns firing over to France. Aerial shots Lancasters in flight, formations etc. also formations of Halifaxes. Aerial shot of Boulogne, shows explosions as bombs hit ground. In France, Shermans. Churchills, Flail tanks. Crocodiles, on road to Boulogne, also Churchill tank with mortar mounted. Boulogne signpost. Jeeps pass. Bulldozer clears debris etc. from roads of town. Various shots of ruined town, here & there a crane can be seen standing. Fires still burning in background. Canadian approaches German prisoners coming in and waving white flag. Engineers build Bailey Bridge across river. More prisoners brought in. Long lines of prisoners marching through town, into & out of camera.
