- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Whitsun 1944 - Ascot & Lord’s. DESCRIPTION: Ascot - The fine weather meant a large crowd was drawn to the Ascot Race Meeting. Lord’s - Large crowds also went to Lord’s for the two one day matches between the Rest of England and Australia. The first match was won by Australia, whilst England just clinched victory in the second. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Elevated shot of race in progress. Various shots of crowds, on the rails. Horse led into paddock, crowds rush in to see same. Various shots of groups seated on grass. At Lord’s, Australians come out to field, against the rest. Elevated LS of play. Pan of crowds, over 30,000. Maharaja of Kashmir arrives with Sir Pelham Warner. Curtin & Bruce signing autographs for children. Shot of them with crowd, people round them. GS of Hutton batting. GS of play. Hammond batting. Cristofani bowling - new Australian bowler. Queue outside on second day. R various shots of crowds watching, wearing paper hats, others with handkerchiefs over their heads.
