MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Battle of Berlin - New Phase Opens. DESCRIPTION: Bomber Command has begun heavy saturation bombing of Berlin. The bombing is five times the heaviest load discharged upon London at the height of the blitz. SHOTLIST: Cut story - GS of Lancaster plane take off at night into camera & in flight. Several Lancasters in flight at night. CU nose of Lancaster, night shot. Above is Library material. Still of streets of Berlin, various stills of Unter den Linden; Berlin BBC; workers homes; Gestapo HQ. Library material - Various fires of London, firemen fighting same, various shots & panning shots of burning London. Dusk shot of Lancaster landing, passing control tower, (doesn’t actually touch down). Various shots of London burning at night. Rooftop panning shots of same. Library - Lancaster coming into land, passes control tower. Group shot of some of the crews which have been over Berlin recently, standing on wings of a Lancaster, & in front of same. MS & CU of Wing-Commander Stidolph making a speech about raid, also CU of Squadron Leader Benjamin, & CU of Squadron Leader Moss talking on the Berlin raid. In the cut story was CU of several names of different countries viz. Rhodesia, New Zealand, Australia, etc. on their shoulders (the air crews).
