MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Don and Neva Battles Russian Nos 4/6/7. DESCRIPTION: The Russians continue to push the Germans back in the South-West, but the most important victory of the winter campaign was the lifting of the siege of Leningrad. The men of the Volkov front linked up with the gallant defenders of Leningrad. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Silhouettes of troops. Burning buildings. Elevated shots of Don Plains covered in snow. Pan of wrecks and dead. Prisoners captured. Tanks into camera and CU wheels through snow. Troops in trenches. Pan waiting. CU written order. Artillery firing. Lines of artillery firing. Infantry go forward. Machine-guns fire and MS of same. Pan of wrecked pillbox and fortifications. Troops kiss one another. On outskirts of town troops pull machine-gun through cemetery. Elevated shot of town of Rossosh. Red flag being hoisted on top of building. Shots of street fighting (enemy unseen). Elevated shot of Leningrad, traffic as usual, crowds buy newspapers. Shot of newspaper. Workers gather for meeting (interiors) CU speaker.
