MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Review of the War. DESCRIPTION: Chapter I - Britain, fulfils her pledge and stakes her life in the cause of Freedom and honour. Chapter II - Britain, virtually alone, holds on against appalling odds, undaunted. Chapter III - Britain, now with powerful allies, clears the way for the offensive phase. Britain is justly proud of her record in these first three years and, as 1943 opens a new chapter, she looks to the future - confident, united, resolute. SHOTLIST: Key scenes. Workers leave factory; various, mixes of pre-war scenes such as racing, football etc. Mix to Hitler speaks into mike. Elevated shots of Nuremberg Rally, German planes in formation, tanks, soldiers through streets. CU siren giving warning. Map of Europe. Three battleships into camera; Spitfires in formation. BEF Embark. Ships under way; map of Europe, cut-in Nuremberg Rally. How Europe was occupied shown by map. Small craft of all types leave for Dunkirk, Dunkirk beaches; Hitler & Petain at signing Armistice at Compiegne. Dover cliffs, as Churchill talks about "We shall fight in the streets, towns, villages, cities etc" also LDV train, rifle practice, hand grenade throwing, etc. Spitfires in formation. German plane crashing; several shots of wrecked German planes. Few of the RAF pilots & CUs. London blitzes at night. Convoy dive bombed; tanks in Middle East into camera & SV. Italian prisoners brought in & pram (equipment) soldier holds up a jerry. Men feeding furnaces, shots of various machinery. Map of Europe, showing our sea lanes. German attack in East (Russia). Tanks, artillery firing, troops advance motorised cavalry over fields (Churchill speaking) about our Allies. Railway shot of tanks for Russia. Pearl Harbour, and damage (Churchill) says "What sort of people do they think we are". Machinery, shell making, tank making, etc. Bostons in formation, bombs drop. Aerial of target. Lancasters in flight. Map of Europe (part) and Africa, shows our sea lanes. Malta ruins and pan. Shot of Crusader tanks, North African convoy under way. Shot of Destroyer. Landings. US troops into camera up beach, carrying US flag. Grants and Shermans in Middle East attacking, followed up by infantry. Germans retreating in lorries. Italians running. Heading of papers ‘Genoa Raid’. Lancaster take off. Aerial shots of Genoa burning. Map of Europe arrows all pointing to Germany fade into Churchill CU. Then various mixes of all types of machinery, finishing up with workers leaving factories. Shot of flying debris after building is hit in attack on Russia. Extra Scenes - Good CU of Churchill.
