Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Mrs Roosevelt Visits ATS, ATA, WAAF, and Fighter Command. DESCRIPTION: Mrs Roosevelt, accompanied by Mrs Churchill, visited several branches of the Women’s Services. SHOTLIST: Cut Story - Mrs Roosevelt at aerodrome. Also in group with Mrs Churchill and Mrs Thompson. Interior: Mrs Roosevelt speaking into mike. CU speaking to ATA girls who are standing in front of Mustangs. CU one girl. Pouring with rain. Car along road lined with ATS. Mrs Hobby gets out of car. Seen leaving MI Room and talking to Mrs R (Sentry box behind). Mrs R talking to ATS girls seated on lorry. Mrs R gets out of car at Fighter Command Station and shakes hands with Sholto Douglas. Walks into camera along ranks of girls on parade, for inspection. Mrs R walking through ruins of London with warden and also with Miss E Wilkinson (streets). At London Fire Brigade HQ, firemen on motor bike ride past, girls in uniform marching and others doing physical jerks, etc. Seated on the balcony is Mrs Roosevelt, Miss Wilkinson, Admiral Evans and Mrs Thompson.
