MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Opening of New Wing at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton. DESCRIPTION: Lord Horder opens the extension of the famous Roehampton Hospital. The hospital has dealt with over eleven hundred amputation cases since the beginning of the war. SHOTLIST: It was opened by Lord Horder. 1. Opening speech by Lord Horder. 2. Reply by Minister of Pensions, Sir Walter Womerslay. 3. Shots of new underground operating theatre. This looks like skin graft. 4. View of limb factory. The workman shown in one of the shots, made the artificial legs for Wing Commander Bader. Hutchins Material Included: 1. Demonstration by Capt. OR Maxwell, Technical of artificial limbs. 2. Planing wood. 3. Drilling with brace and bit. 4. Nailing and sawing. 5. Guests arriving for display by patients fitted with artificial limbs. 6. CU of Lord Horder and Sir Walter Womerslay. 7. Patients walking with artificial limbs (air raid victims). 8. Petty Officer Writer Young, RN VR who lost both legs. 9. Sub Lt Colin Hodgkinson (FAA - who lost both legs in a flying crash, now flies a Hurricane). 10. Doris Lodge rides bicycle with artificial leg. 11. General view of company. 12. Lord Horder and Sir Womerslay walking with service patients, including Sub Lieutenants Hodgkinson and Damers and Petty Officer Young. 13. Horder bids goodbye to Womerslay. 14.
