Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: King and Queen in West Country. DESCRIPTION: During their three-day visit to the West Country the King and Queen visited a Cornish tin mine. They inspected Land Army girls and saw Wrens at work. SHOTLIST: King and Queen, inspects Belgian fishermen, afterwards passing a motor gun boat. Crowds cheering. Taken from moving car. Inspection of 100 Land Girls. Their Majesties visit a Cornish tin mine. Inspection and march past of Infantry Brigade. Queen inspects ATS. They visit a dockyard where they inspect Norwegian sailors, dockyard men, Merchant Navy and sailors. Their Majesties visit farm on Duchy Estate. Inspection of WRNS and WRN boat crew. The Queen boards launch and take a trip. This boat is manned entirely by the WRNS. Their Majesties later visit Plymouth, but I understand from Peter Whale that all the shots showing damage were censored, there are also shots of Naval College Dartmouth. There is a marchpast of cadets. Shot of massed physical training drill, the performers later rushing to the rails to cheer their Majesties. The King inspects gun used for clay pigeon shooting and talks to P Stanbery. In Exeter, the Defence Workers line the streets. Note - GR story is very small. Does not include much of the above. Remainder in cuts.
