- Summary
- Pathe synopsis: The South Sea islands. Yes, Pathe Pic’s magic carpet has reached, through the years, to each of the five continents. But, for our five-hundredth issue in colour, we’ve been able to film the whole of this colourful world of ours in - New York. The World’s Fair - and there’s its symbol, the Unisphere, a world in stainless steel as big as a twelve-storey building. And within a square mile of super-salesmanship, you see African dancers, Beefeaters at the Tower of London, porpoises, Hollywood in action, an Indian war-dance and ducks that can play piano and dance. Eight thousand workmen bulldozed a million cubic yards of earth on this billion-dollar site, which was once a meadow marshland, to bring four years of planning to an extravagant two year life. Around the world, we go, in this issue. And everywhere there’s colour. At night a symphony of colour that is - magical. And we are the first to bring this riot of colour either to cinema or television screens.
