- Summary
- Pathe synopsis: One hundred years ago, a party of intrepid Victorians were conducted through Switzerland - the first organised party of English tourists to visit a foreign land. This year, that tour was re-created. This year, crinoline-clad ladies and Norfolk-jacketed gentlemen partook of twelve-course Swiss dinners, saw the world’s most beautiful scenery and rode in postal carriages and sedan chairs, sailing barges and old, old trains. Their journey was a journey of colour and contrasts - captured by Pathe Pic and presented by the ghost of Miss Jemima [Morrell] - the diarist of the original tour. She thought she’d like today - but a bikini girl convinced her otherwise.
