Summary

The City of Rotterdam was threatened when fire broke out at a giant refinery on its outskirts. Firemen fought hard to stop the inferno from spreading and managed to confine it to one tank of kerosene. They succeeded. But shortly afterwards an explosion rocked the city when fifteen further storage tanks exploded. Two men were killed and thirty-five injured.
