- Prime Minister Attlee’s speech on the end of the War. Huge crowds in Piccadilly - US soldier up a lamp-post. Gag-shot man in pyjamas runs from house, wife calls him back and gives him his trousers. Royal family leaving Buckingham Palace for State Opening of Parliament. On arrival back at the Palace they all come out onto the balcony to face the thousands who have gathered outside to cheer them. Crowds dancing Beer-Barrel Polka. In Wardour Street, Chinese crowds. Crowds in street. King with his Ministers in grounds of Buckingham Palace. Tramps under Hungerford Bridge drink a toast in cocoa. Other people drinking toasts, but in night clubs. People of all nationalities barn dancing in Charley Brown’s in Limehouse. Royal family again on the balcony of Buckingham Palace at night, to acknowledge huge crowds.
