Career

Edward Tassie was a cameraman who joined the film industry before 1914. He later worked as a cameraman for the Topical Budget, his first recorded item being ‘GERMAN SHIPS COME FOR FOOD’ in No.395-2 of March 1919, and his last being ‘NEWBURY RACES’ in No.588-2 of December 1922. Tassie subsequently followed William Jeapes to the Empire News Bulletin, launched in 1926, and the issue sheet for Bulletin No.343 from August 1929 notes that he filmed Newport Carnival for them. When the Empire News Bulletin was phased out in 1930 he followed William Jeapes to its successor, the Universal Talking News, which was launched in the same year. Tassie also filmed for Universal News during World War Two.
