Career

William Chaston worked as a cameraman on the cinemagazine This Is Britain, produced by the Central Office of Information for the Board of Trade. His only existing credit is for ‘BRITAIN’S NEW RESOURCES’, This Is Britain No.45, made by the Crown Film Unit [qv] for overseas distribution in 1950. Through the Crown Film Unit, he also worked on the first six issues of Mining Review, including ‘CUTTER LOADER’ in Mining Review 1st Year No.1 in September 1947 and ‘THE PROBLEM OF SMOKE ELIMINATION’ in Mining Review 1st Year No.5 in January 1948.

It is probable that the Chaston credited in the camera teams that filmed ‘TROOPING THE COLOUR’ for Pathe News No.53/44 of June 1953, and ‘ROYAL RIVER PAGEANT’ in No.53/56 of July 1953 was William Chaston.
