Career

Vic Gover entered the film industry in 1928, working in the cutting rooms. He subsequently became an editor, and worked for a wide range of British feature and documentary film companies. By 1949 he was editor of the Crown Film Unit, and he is mentioned in the Movietone story card for ‘THE CORONATION’ in British Movietone News No.1252A of June 1953, in terms of material apparently edited and ‘processed for Mr. Gover.' According to Terry Gallacher [qv], ‘it is possible that duplicate material of the Coronation was supplied to the Crown Film Unit for their own purposes.' Gover is also noted as supplying ‘DISPATCH FROM SUDAN’ for British Movietone News No.1538 of November 1958.
