Enhanced Premier Membership
BUFVC Enhanced Premier Membership is £2205 (including VAT).
Enhanced Premier Membership offers staff in a subscribing institution complete access to BUFVC services and optimum benefits (in comparison to all other packages).
Benefits include the following:
- Information Service – access to the BUFVC’s Information Service by phone, fax or e-mail
- Viewfinder magazine – up to 50 copies of the BUFVC’s popular quarterly magazine
- DVD copies of formerly broadcast content – up to 150 copies per annum delivered from the BUFVC’s Off-Air Recording Back-Up Service – an essential service for those needing to acquire copies of content they missed the opportunity to record locally. The BUFVC stores more than 10 years of blanket recording derived from 7 UK television channels (BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, ITV1, Channel 4, and Five) and BBC Radio 4 (from October 2008).
- Access to TRILT for all staff and students – TRILT is the Television and Radio Index for Learning and Teaching – the most comprehensive online database and personalised alert service for broadcasts received in the UK. It carries more than 10 million records of television and radio programmes with links to sources of copies
- Use of the TRILT online ordering system – to request DVD copies of formerly broadcast programmes
- Discounts for attendance at BUFVC events – discount registration charges for courses, conferences and screenings (plus additional discounts for staff and students at Enhanced Premier Members Institutions for selected events)
- Free use of BUFVC meeting facilities for one day per membership year at 77 Wells Street, London W1 (additional services may incur a cost e.g. catering)
- Discounts for use of BUFVC meeting facilities at 77 Wells Street, London W1 – with seating capacity for up to 20, the seminar room offers sophisticated video conferencing facilities, multi format video playout, bright data projection, surround sound and 100 Mbps primary connection into the JANET network
- BUFVC book publications at discount prices – including Cinema Before Cinema, Shakespeare on Film, Television and Radio and The Researcher’s Guide: Film, Television, Radio and Related Documentation Collections in the UK
- Representation at BUFVC General Meetings (one vote may be carried by each member institution
- Optional upgrade for use of BoB National for institutions holding an ERA+ licence
N.B. Institutions at this level of membership are able to ‘carry over’ any unused membership benefits for use in the following membership year. These may not be carried over for more than one year and no more than 100 off-air recording requests may be carried from one year to the next.
The new rates shown here apply from 1 August 2010 to 31 July 2011 and include VAT at the current rate.

All applications for membership should be made by letter to the Chief Executive of the BUFVC and must be formally approved by the Executive Committee before acceptance. The letter should come from the registrar, director or other appropriate person (where applicable) and should, if possible, name the representative proposed.
