Founded in the United States in 1948, the AES is the only professional society devoted exclusively to audio technology. It is an international organisation that serves audio engineers, creative artists, scientists and students worldwide by promoting advances in audio and disseminating new knowledge and research. The site offers a wealth of resources, most of which are available to paying members only. They include: Tutorial presentations from conferences and conventions, Oral Histories, and an E-Library which documents the progression of audio research from 1953 to the present day. The UK section of the AES offers some lectures via their YouTube Channel, and reports and recordings of past meetings, which are organised chronologically and go back to 2008.

Free subscription to Mybrainshark allows users to create online and mobile video presentations by uploading PowerPoints, documents, photos or video clips and then adding audio by phone, microphone or MP3. Presentations created can then be shared by linking via email or social media, embedded in websites or blogs, and viewed anytime, on-demand from desktop or mobile devices. Viewing details – who, what, when and where - can also be tracked. Examples of works made with the software, mainly on management topics, are featured on the site, and an enhanced version of the software is available for purchase. Short videos on the practicalities of using Mybrainshark have been produced by Russell Stannard of Teacher Training Videos - uploading PowerPoint and working with photos, videos and documents .

The British Library has held two Unlocking Audio conferences relating to sound digitisation. The first, in 2007, was on Sharing Experience of Mass Digitisation and explored the planning and strategies required for the successful execution of large-scale audio digitisation projects, and the technical and practical issues involved. The second, Connecting with Listeners was held in 2009 and looked at the use of sounds online and ways that researchers and other audiences expect to discover, browse, audition and analyse archival audio resources. This website provides the full conference programmes and audio/video recordings of selected contributions to the debate.
