National Geographic Channel (also commercially abbreviated and trademarked as Nat Geo) is the American digital cable and satellite television channel that is owned by Fox Cable Networks division of 21st Century Fox and the National Geographic Society.
The channel broadcasts non-fiction television programmes produced by National Geographic and other production companies. It features documentaries with factual content involving nature, science, culture, and history, plus some reality and pseudo-scientific entertainment programming.

An American public affairs television show 1966-1999, hosted by William F. Buckley Jr. It was a venue for debate and discussion on political, social, and philosophical issues with experts of the day. The broadcast collection, held by the Hoover Institution includes administrative files, programme preparation materials, photographs, transcripts, sound recordings, and videotape copies of the 1,505 programmes. The Episode Guide gives programme descriptions, links to video clips on YouTube, and links to complete programmes on Amazon.com when commercially available.

This excellent resource documents the history of Pebble Mill Studios in Birmingham, from the building’s opening in 1971 to its demolition in 2005. The site features video interviews, stills and text about the history of the studios, with contributions from production staff, including directors, editors, producers, writers and camera operators. Amongst those interviewed are David Rudkin, who wrote the acclaimed Play for Today ‘Penda’s Fen’, who talks here about working with director Alan Clarke.
Searchable Transmission lists give a chronology of drama broadcast from BBC Pebble Mill between 1972-200. The listings include drama series Thirty Minute Theatre, Playhouse and Play for Today, listing transmission date, writer, producer and director. A slight caveat for users is that the material is presented in the form of a blog, so that entries are arranged chronologically, which can make searching difficult. The material is, however, broadly arranged in three categories: ‘Building’, ‘Television’ and ‘Radio’. The site was created by Vanessa Jackson, who worked at Pebble Mill from 1987 to 2004. She is currently (2014) Degree Leader in Television at Birmingham City University: the site is part of a research project to document programme making in the regions, and was been funded by Screen West Midlands. For copyright reasons no footage from the original BBC programmes is available on the site.

This is the official website of the BBC History Magazine. The digital editions of the magazine are only available to paying subscribers but there is a substantial amount of free content, including a news section, book reviews, TV and radio listings and a weekly podcast, which is free to download, and has an archive dating back to 2007. There is also a series of blogs by various contributors, many of which include video content, such as this interview with Dr Hannah Dawson about the history of ideas, which considers Thomas Hobbes and his definition of the Social Contract.

This is the website of Germany’s international broadcaster, which provides a wide range of television, radio and online services in thirty languages and is particularly strong in its coverage of culture, education and European social, political and economic matters. The Learn German page, provides access to a range of language courses, suitable for all levels, and including e-learning services, videos, audio courses and podcasts, as well as written materials and worksheets. Amongst the language resources on offer is Langsam Gesprochne Nachrichten, a series of podcasts, with accompanying transcripts, of the news being read slowly in German.

English-language version of the Arabic-language television news network that broadcasts around the world to over 220 million households. A live stream of the channel is accessible via the Aljazeera English website, YouTube and a range of mobile devices. The Aljazeera website and YouTube also permit on-demand viewing of news clips and an extensive range of programmes that have been previously broadcast, together with background material including profiles and global reactions. There are also live blogs from reporters and correspondents on the protest movements in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Egypt and other key topical events from around the world.

The site began by concentrating on explaining the holdings and workings of the BBC Archives, using short videos, accompanied by written text, and frequently-asked questions. Separate pages cover different aspects of the Archive and issues relating to them - television, sound, written, photographic, contributor rights, preservation and cataloguing, test cards and ceefax, the bits between programmes, and the BBC Heritage Collection. Since 2008 the website has diversified to include themed collections of archival radio and TV programmes (streamed complete or as extracts), documents and photographs. This site highlights the works of the Public Broadcasting Stations (PBS) in America, where there are a total of 349 of them. Founded in 1969, PBS is a private non-profit organisation dedicated to documentary and educational programmes on a plethora of subjects. The site provides scheduling details for its stations throughout the USA but also includes teaching packs and a fair amount of streamed audio and pictures, which range from footage on the World Trade Centre attack to interviews about Japanese film director Akira Kurosawa, all organised into ten main topics and then dozens of subcategories. The shop sells DVD versions of a selected programmes.

This very busy site offers electronic versions of both its published TV and radio listings, although covering a fortnight instead of just one week, as well as its Film Guide which can be searched by title or personality. There is a Radio Times Video Archive that streams footage from Radio Times photo shoots (using Real and WMP). The Download section gives direct access to a range of television and radio programmes, some free and some chargeable, from sources including Five, Channel 4, Living and the South Bank Show.
