    A voice for biodiversity research and exploration, and environmental education, the California Academy of Science’s site offers a wide range of learning experiences via mobile applications, interactives and animal webcams. The Video Library showcases short films on the latest discoveries and research findings made by Academy scientists around the world.     Launched in 2007, The Do Lectures project aims to ‘create a safe space to ask better questions’. The event runs for three days once a year and is hosted on an old farm in Cardigan, West Wales. The talks are filmed and then made available for free. The lectures are organised into ten categories: Adventure, Business, Creativity, Education, Environment, Food, Future You, Social Change, Technology and Well-being.

    Set up by The James Dyson Foundation, the award operates in 27 countries, and is open to university level students and recent graduates studying product design, industrial design and engineering. It recognises and rewards imaginative design solutions to global problems with the environment in mind. The Awards website includes short videos of this year’s entries and past winners with demonstrations of how the actual product works. Amongst the 2018 winners are: kitchenware for the blind, a prosthetic leg system, furniture for flooding, a semi-automatic Malaria diagnosis device and a wheelchair for air journeys.

    A free online platform designed to provide advanced researchers with the open climate data, visualizations and resources they need to gather insights on national and global progress on climate change. The platform, managed by the World Resource Institute, brings together dozens of datasets for the first time and allows users to analyse and compare the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement, access historical emissions data, discover how countries can leverage their climate goals to achieve their sustainable development objectives, and use models to map new pathways to a lower carbon. The site can be searched by Countries, Economic sector, Nationally Determined Contribution, Global Historical Gas Emissions and Future Scenarios, where users can model projections of emissions.

    A project sponsored by Cambridge University and The Wellcome Trust that gives researchers the opportunity to work with filmmakers and artists to make short documentaries about their work. The resulting 13 films are accessible and engaging.     This vast resource makes publicly available 140,000 images, videos and audio files, aggregated from NASA’s agencies across the USA and around the world. The database is fully searchable, indexed by keywords and can be filtered by media type. Each entry also includes the link to its original site.     This site provides online access to a selection of the Open University’s materials - images and text-based items as well as audio and videos - as well as functioning as a record and an archive of the OU’s collections. Publicly available collections currently include over 160 images from the Historical Archives Collection, over 100 videos of OU events, such as degree ceremonies and other programmes about the OU, dating back to 1971. OU’s programmes are represented by a series of clips from courses which include science, technology and the arts. A number of online exhibitions have also been created to contextualise some of the material. These include: ‘Shakespeare at the OU’, ‘Harold Wilson and the OU’ and ‘The OU Story’.
