    The IFI Player presents a freely available selection of material from the collections of the Irish Film Archive. Feature films, animations, documentaries, adverts, amateur films, travelogues and newsreels tell the story of Irish social, political and cultural history in moving images. The site features a wealth of fascinating material - from this award winning film about W.B. Yeats to a Telecom Eireann advert in which Bob Geldof warns of the idiocy of vandalising public telephones. Other films explore the Troubles, the events of Easter 1916, the Irish emigrant experience in America, the Irish landscape, tourism and religion. Users can search by keyword, browse by genre, or explore the curated collections section. Some of the films are accompanied by classroom worksheets for teachers and students.

    Academic Video Online: Premium is the largest and most comprehensive video subscription available to libraries. It delivers more than 50,000 video titles spanning all academic subject areas including anthropology, business, counselling, film, health, history, music, and more. More than 12,000 titles are exclusive to Alexander Street. From Jan 1 2016, it includes the new “AVON-to-Own” feature, where subscribing libraries receive perpetual rights to videos they select at the end of each annual term commensurate with the amount of the subscription, using an entire year of usage data to support selections. Subscribing libraries also receive Alexander Street’s Media Hosting Service at no charge.

    Conway Hall is owned by Conway Hall Ethical Society and was first opened in 1929. The name was chosen in honour of Moncure Daniel Conway (1832 – 1907), anti-slavery advocate, out-spoken supporter of free thought and biographer of Thomas Paine. The Hall now hosts a wide variety of lectures, classes, performances, community and social events. It is renowned as a hub for free speech and independent thought. The website hosts a small number of videos of the lectures including LONDON THINKS: THE RISE OF UKIP and THE OPPRESSION AND RESILIENCE OF WOMEN.

    This website, which is hosted by Nottingham University, consists of a series of short videos, each one about a single book of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. Many of the academics involved are biblical scholars, but the beauty of the site lies in its multifaceted approach, so that as well as theology, it takes in aspects of literature, geography, philosophy, politics, art and science, looking at the Bible in the context of the history of Western civilization.

    The Gifford Lectures were established in 1898 "to contribute to the advancement of theological and philosophical thought". The lectures take place over the course of the academic year in four Scottish universities: St Andrews, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh. The contents of the series from 2009 onwards are freely available as video and audio podcasts. Recent speakers include Terry Eagleton speaking on the God Debate, and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown on The Future of Jobs and Justice. Perhaps more typical is historian Diarmaid MacCulloch’s series of lectures on the history of silence in the Christian church. The series is also streamed on a YouTube channel.
