The goal of this website is to explain how environmental scientists work and why the work they do is important. The site is run by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), the UK public body that supports and funds the natural and environmental sciences, via major environmental research centres: the British Antarctic Survey, the British Geological Survey, the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, the National Centre for Atmospheric Science, the National Centre for Earth Observation and the National Oceanography Centre. As well as News and Features sections there is a Podcasts and Video page, where various aspects of the work done by the above bodies are discussed.

This is the website of the Oral History of British Science programme. At the heart of the project are 100 interviews with British scientists about environmental science, British technology and engineering from 1940 to the present. The home page provides a good introduction to the project: it features short audio and video clips, with transcripts, of scientists and engineers talking about their lives and careers.
Users can search by themes (including education and lab work, and also by scientific discipline. The site also includes links to articles and papers written by members of the project team.

To celebrate the range of scientific issues discussed during the Royal Society’s 350th anniversary year the Science Sees Further website has been set up. It offers all those interested in science an opportunity to look at the key scientific issues of today, and those of tomorrow. The site is arranged in 12 chapters based on the subjects of the year’s discussion meetings - the ageing process, biological diversity, cognition and computation, cultural diversity, extra-terrestrial life, geoengineering, global sustainability, greenhouse gases, new vaccines, stem cell biology, uncertainty in science, and web science. Each section comprises an attractive subject summary (authored by the meeting organisers), short historical context using material from the Society’s Centre for History of Science, as well as interactive audio and video material.
