Informative and well-organised site for television camera operators, particularly television news, with an impressive archive of articles, news items, cameramen’s web sites, tips for newcomers, and a very useful glossary of terms. There are equipment reviews, wants lists and second-hand offers, a bookstore with helpful descriptions, and an excellent ‘travelogue’ section with data on countries around the world of value to more than just globe-trotting cameramen.

Formerly an excellent guide to web sites on the humanities, with helpful but not overwordy site descriptions and useful background material. It also integrates search results with results from the database of the North West Film Archive, an innovative and very welcome initative. NB Intute closed in July 2011 and the site has now been archived. No further resources are being added and no changes are being made to existing content, so the resource will increasingly become less useful and reliable.

A lengthy collection of multimedia chemistry resources on the Web, divided up into Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Nucleic acid-related, Protein-related, General chemistry, Inorganic/organometallic chemistry, Organic chemistry, Physical/theoretical chemistry, Safety, Software, and Other WWW chemistry resources. However, a frustratingly large number of the links do not work.

MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching) is an American gateway to online learning materials for teachers and students in higher education. Sites are given peer reviews (i.e. by users), and are categorised under Arts, Business, Education, Humanities, Mathematics, Science and Technology and Social Sciences. Tracing moving image materials is best done by using the search term ‘video’ under the subject-specific ‘disicipline community’ option - a number of these sites can also be found on the Moving Image Gateway.
