HEDS is funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee and run by the University of Hertfordshire. It provides advice, consultancy and a complete production service for digitisation and digital library development, serving not only the education sector, but also public libraries, museums, archives and other non-profit making organisations. The site includes details of the various digitisation projects and institutions with which HEDS has worked, and information on implementing a digitisation project. This site is no longer active, but the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine offers a capture of the website as it appeared on 02/10/2006. This does not include access to the moving images.

This site is devoted to the many different types of widescreen processes that have proliferated practically from when film production first began. The style is occasionally irreverent, but the information is sound and there are a vast number of practical examples, all liberally illustrated with screen grabs from video versions and the original frames. There are also sections devoted to the history of colour film, the development of sound, film posters and much more.

The Informedia research group at Carnegie Mellon University works with speech recognition, image processing, and language technologies to facilitate machine understanding of video materials. This site is devoted to aspects of Informedia research especially pertinent to digital video libraries for cultural assets, particularly oral histories, and hosts interfaces that build from automatic alignment of transcripts to video, named entity detection, geocoding to support map search, and other multimedia indexing and interface technologies. The IDVL interfaces are built with Adobe Flex, producing a Flash application. The website also includes a number of articles and presentations that come out of IDVL research and projects.

CCNMTL is a service of Columbia University which aims to enhance teaching and learning through the use of new media. The Podcasting & Media Tools section of the website focuses on the creation of audio, enhanced audio, and video for classroom use. The resources in this section offer advice on which software to use in creating recordings of class lectures and presentation materials, what media format to offer it in, and tips on how to develop a style and structure for your recorded presentation that matches your pedagogical approach to teaching. The Columbia University channel on YouTube EDU gives faculty, students and the public access to Columbia-produced videos of lectures, events and promotional content.
