The Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network (FLAMIN) supports London-based artists working in moving image - whether film, video, digital or new technologies and for installation, animation, cinema, gallery exhibition, the public realm or broadcast. The Network helps artists engage with and benefit from the wide range of services, resources and opportunities that the capital has to offer. It works with other organisations to offer online resources (listings and guides covering production, exhibition, training and career development relating to moving image work), funds an Awards scene and organises regular seminars, screenings, artist talks, panel discussions and ‘in conversation’ sessions. An advice service is available for any technical or general query.

To complement the longer documentaries 17 short films were also made which deal with personal, political and rights issues on the theme ‘What does democracy mean to me?' Some of the films were shown on BBC2 in October 2007. The website includes additional resources. The films are an initiative of The Why Foundation, which is a non-profit organisation that produces and distributes factual public media projects to promote independent information on key global issues. Other documentary series produced so far include: Why Poverty, and Why Women.

Since October 2011 Creative England has replaced the Regional Screen Agencies outside London in supporting the sustainable growth of the ‘screen-related’ sector of film and television, together with the wider creative industries such as games, digital, new media, design and fashion. The three core film priorities are developing creative talent, nurturing film culture and helping to maximise inward investment.
