Multimedia Training Videos is a series of free and open educational resources for instruction in the use of a variety of multimedia and ICT tools. It was created by members of the MSc in Multimedia at the University of Westminster. The project is a joint collaboration between the Joint Information Systems Committee-JISC, Higher Education Academy and the University of Westminster Education Initiative Centre. The videos include detailed instruction in the use of software such as Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Director and Audacity, as well as covering web tools and search engine optimisation. Other videos are planned to cover Javascript, CSS, PHP and WordPress. The resources are also available via other outlets such as Twitter, Facebook, Blogger, Vimeo and YouTube and can be embedded into your own blog. The site contains its own that records all the work done to develop the site.

The purpose of this online learning object is to explore the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) that may be within multimedia items, and to highlight some of the complications and considerations that need to be taken into account before a deposit of this type can be made into a repository.
Following two short introductions to multimedia and to copyright, questions are then posed on some of the details of copyright within varying item types. Feedback on, and an explanation to, the question’s answers are given. Also included is a short exercise looking at what needs to be taken into consideration before allowing a performance video item into a repository. The learning object concludes with a look at Performers’ Rights and highlights what repository staff should be aware of in regard to this IPR within potential repository deposits.
The material of this learning object has been adapted from the interactive ‘Multimedia Deposits: Complications and Considerations’ presentation given at the 2009 Gregynog Colloquium WRN Repository Stream.

A guide to how to use Twitter, Facebook and Google Buzz for social learning, compiled by Jane Hart of the Centre for Learning & Performance Technologies. In it she describes and explains the many different ways these tools can be used - from backchannels in events and presentations, in the lecture or training room, for micro-learning, as well as for collaborative and other formal and informal learning projects. The guide is a work in progress and is still evolving.
