Each month The Journal of the American Society of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (JAACAP) highlights a selected article in the Journal by providing a podcast interview with the author. The podcasts are typically 15 to 20 minutes. The site provides a reference to the issue of the Journal in which the article appeared and a short summary of the podcast content. Recent interviews have been with the authors of ‘Practice Parameter for the Assessment and Treatment of Children and Adolescents With Eating Disorders’ and ‘Clinic- and Home-Based Contingency Management Plus Parent Training for Adolescent Cannabis Use Disorders’.

The BBC Radio 4 series (1982-2001) in which psychiatrist and broadcaster Dr Anthony Clare conducts in depth interviews with prominent people from different walks of life. Episodes are accessible on BBC iPlayer. Some editions are available for download; others are offered as podcasts. Among those taking part in the programme are Spike Milligan, Ken Russell, Professor Norman Stone, RD Laing and Ruth Rendell. The editions are hosted indefinitely. Episodes are also available on iTunes.

Podcasts include Dr Cecile Bishop talking on ‘The Truth About Amin: History and Fiction in Filmic Portrayals of Idi Amin’; Helen Vassall on ‘The Day Nina Simone Stopped Singing: Gender, War and Trauma’ and Marina Warner speaking on '"What’s Hercules to Him?" Terror, Pity and the Matter of Troy (from Homer to Alice Oswald). The site is clear and easy to use and the summary of content full and informative.

This popular and wide-ranging psychology podcast, which is hosted by psychologist Michael Britt, is aimed at students, teachers and interested critical thinkers. All aspects of psychology are covered, from Biopsychology, Ethics, Gender and Sexuality to Perception, Personality and Therapy. The podcast considers how theories of psychology relate to current events, and features discussions and interviews with leading practitioners. For students there are useful learning tools such as this video which helps learners to Memorise parts of the brain and a Mnemonic Device to memorise Erikson’s Eight Stages of Development. Most of the podcasts are accompanied by links to other resources and articles.

Monthly neuroscience podcast from Nature, which features news from neuroscience conferences around the world, reports on research and latest developments as well as looking at some of the ethical and philosophical implications that arise when considering the functions of the brain. The site has an eclectic approach and the podcasts cover everything from prions, addiction, psychopathic traits, research in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, optogenetics, sleep patterns and drugs v. cognitive therapy in the treatment of depression. The podcasts go back to 2006 and are free to listen to via streaming or can be downloaded as mp3 files.

The stated aim of this resource is to create a public space to discuss issues at the point where science and social policy intersect. The site presents a series of lectures, interviews and readings from various conferences and symposia with the emphasis on serious current scientific research and its moral, ethical and philosophical implications. The subjects covered include cognitive science, neuroscience, stem cell research, oncology, evolution and aging. The site has much that is interesting but of particular note are the proceedings of the Beyond Belief conference, a lively wide-ranging conference on science and religion featuring a large group of eminent scientists and philosophers, including Richard Dawkins, biologist and philosopher Francisco J.
