    This website is the home of the British Psychoanalytic Society, which aims to promote the development of the theory and practice of psychoanalysis. The site features a number of videos and short films. Other films trace the history of psychoanalysis in Britain, look at aspects of theory and practise, offer advice on training and show discussions between old and new generations of psychoanalysts. Longer versions of many of the films are also available to purchase as DVDs from the institute’s website.

    Monthly neuroscience podcast from Nature, which features news from neuroscience conferences around the world, reports on research and latest developments as well as looking at some of the ethical and philosophical implications that arise when considering the functions of the brain. The site has an eclectic approach and the podcasts cover everything from prions, addiction, psychopathic traits, research in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, optogenetics, sleep patterns and drugs v. cognitive therapy in the treatment of depression. The podcasts go back to 2006 and are free to listen to via streaming or can be downloaded as mp3 files.

Most of the materials offered are licensed by the respective institutes under a Creative Commons licence. One of the more innovative aspects of Learner’s TV is the provision of animations for certain science subjects to help students visualise difficult or abstract concepts.

    The BMA Library has one of the largest collections of medical films and videos in the UK, with material dating from 1924 to the mid-1980s. Film material from 1950 onwards and most of the video collections is available for loan. Most subject areas in medicine are covered, with the majority being most suitable for medical students and doctors. The audiovisual collection can be searched on the online catalogue.

    The Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation, located in Boston, Massachusetts, is a research, training, and service organisation ‘dedicated to improving the lives of persons who have psychiatric disabilities by improving the effectiveness of people, programs, and service systems’.     Gresham College, named after Sir Thomas Gresham, has been giving free lectures for some 400 years. Over 2,000 audio and/or video lectures given since 2001 are available on the site for free, on-demand streaming or download approximately two weeks after they have been given. The main subject areas are Art & Literature, Medical Science, Business, History, Law, Mathematics, Music, Politics, Religion, Science, and Unusual, which includes Media, Education, Climate Change and others. Results can also be filtered by subcategories. For example, there is a section on Film under the Arts & Literature category, and a section on Film Music under the Music category. The lectures last, on average, between 25 minutes and a little under an hour. They all have a good number of chapters and a fair amount of information is given on the site as well as transcripts and links to related materials.
    The content can also be browsed via the tab Watch which contains four groupings: All Past Lectures, Series, Shorts and Short Series.
