It aims to esearch to improve the way important results are presented and shared and the open-access eLife journal is the first step in the initiative to make science publishing more effective.     Science and Society, launched in June 2003, was one of the first-internet radio programmes, and the site claims that it was one of the first in the United States to introduce downloadable podcasts as a value-added service. The podcasts present interviews with more than 600 world leaders in science, industry, and education. It focuses on Environmental conservation and sustainable energy policy, Medical breakthroughs, including cancer research, genetics and genomics, and bioengineering, Nanotechnology, Space exploration, Robotics and computer science and K-12 science education. The podcasts can be searched by themes such as Genetics and Genomic Medicine, Robotics and AI and Stem Cell Research. Each entry incorporates information about the speaker and bullet points summarising content.

    Digital Collections is the National Library of Medicine’s free online resource of biomedical books and videos. All the content in Digital Collections, unless otherwise indicated, is in the public domain. The 200+ films in Digital Collections come from NLM’s reel and videotape holdings of government and military-created productions. The source material was digitised to MPEG2 format. The films (the majority produced in the 1940s) may be searched by title, date range and persons involved in the production. The subject headings could be made more specific but a basic search finds words in the description. Topics include tropical medicine, dental health and military hygiene. The descriptions of the films are comprehensive giving full credits and a detailed description.

    Mental Health TV is a resource producing educational programmes for students, junior doctors, health workers and the general public. The site was established and funded by Dr Andrew Macaulay. The site claims that it is the only public service internet broadcaster dedicated to providing video information for common mental health problems for students, patients and their families and CPD modules for professionals. The website delivers a wide range of programmes on a pay-per-view and contract basis; some are free or sponsored. Topics covered include anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia and eating disorders.
