Blog with a scholarly bent devoted to British television drama, ‘from its earliest days to the present day’. An entire section is devoted to the BBC’s Play For Today, consisting of a chronological list of plays, with credits, stills where available, and essays/interviews about individual plays by David Rolinson (who is the site’s creator) and others.
An essay on Alan Clarke, which makes particular reference to Clarke’s ‘Play for Today’ work has been updated to mention the BFI’s 2016 DVD and Blu-Ray release 'Dissent and Disruption’, a collection of surviving stand-alone BBC TV dramas that Alan Clarke directed between 1969 and 1989. Other material on Clarke is available on this mini-site

Launched in 2016 Screen Plays documents British television productions of plays that were originally written for the theatre. In its current ‘soft launch’ version, it features television productions of theatre plays from television’s first thirty years, 1936 to 1965. There is also a selection of later records which will be added over the coming months. The resource will embrace all productions to date by summer 2016. The site also offers information on the audiovisual and print sources that are known to exist for each of the productions: these include archival production files, contemporary newspaper reviews, scholarly writings, practitioners’ autobiographies and the recordings themselves (both those existing only in archives and those available commercially). Searches can be undertaken by title, series, channel, date, production company, theatre company, and theme (e.g. Africa, mental health, pantomine).

The website provides resources for the critical analysis of popular culture in the US, including the impact of that culture beyond national borders. Resources include sites on various forms of popular culture, including music, film, television, advertising, sports, fashion, toys, magazines and comic books, and the medium in which this message moves, cyberculture.
The site focuses on issues of race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, cultural imperialism and censorship, as shaped by and reflected in various mass media.
This site also includes sections that introduce and give resources for four main types or elements of popular culture analysis: production analysis, textual analysis, audience analysis, and historical analysis (of the first three dimensions as they change over time).
Also included are links to online pop culture courses, to journals treating popular culture, to some other key sites providing pop cultural analysis, and to media activist organisations that work to bring social justice critiques to mass media.

Doodles are the fun, surprising, and sometimes spontaneous changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists, pioneers, and scientists. The Archive pages, arranged chronologically, preserve the Doodles of past years celebrating, for example, the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta, St Valentine’s Day, the Mexican 2015 elections and Saul Bass’ 93rd birthday. Clicking on the Doodle, some of which are animated and/or interactive, gives interesting information on the illustrator, the creative process and details of the event/celebration behind the logo.
