Academics from the University of Edinburgh discuss a theme of contemporary relevance in this monthly podcast. The first episode saw professors from the schools of law, economics and history discuss the issues associated with Scottish independence before the 2014 referendum. Other podcasts have more of a magazine format, covering several topics, but the general focus is on current political, economic and social issues, including migration within the EU, the rise of Russian nationalism, and women’s rights, as well as more local issues, such as Scottish oral history and the negative effects of Edinburgh’s self-image. The podcast is also available on iTunes.

The site hosts a number of different series and although the cluttered layout can make navigation tricky there is a lot of worthwhile content. The Tour Report series consists of one-to-one interviews with leading legal figures, such as this discussion with Charles Christian, Editor in Chief of Legal IT Insider on the role of information technology in modern legal practice. Another series - Without Prejudice - features Charon QC in discussion with journalist David Allen Green and barrister and former government lawyer Carl Gardner. Other podcasts focus on human rights and legal ethics as well as looking at the legal profession itself. In addition to the podcast the site also features Piggot’s InsiteLaw magazine which contains links to news stories, links to law related posts from UK and other bloggers and a lively discussion board run by the members.

Interactive website created by the Ministry of Justice in which users are invited to consider the evidence in reconstructions of real-life criminal cases before deciding what sentence to pass. Cases include Mugging, Burglary, Threatening Behaviour and Manslaughter. A series of videos features members of the legal professions, who explain their roles, before introducing the facts of the offence, considering aggravating and mitigating factors and then explaining how sentences are handed out. Users select a sentence before finding out what punishment the defendant received in reality. The aim of the site is to explain sentencing to the public: according to the Ministry of Justice, people think that sentencing is too lenient, but analysis of the website’s users shows that "for every three users who enter the site thinking sentencing’s too lenient, two leave it thinking it’s about right".

A weekly news magazine radio programme and podcast which takes a look at things from "a secular, rationalist, skeptical, somewhat lefty-liberal, sort of perspective". Covers politics, science, religion, social networking, ethics, medicine and anything else which it considers germane to its free-thinking approach, with the aim of producing a superficially light-hearted but essentially serious and thought-provoking series of programmes aimed at the intelligent general listener.
