This popular American radio programme about science and philosophy is aimed at an audience of general listeners and is characterised by its innovative sound design. Each podcast takes a broad theme, such as Parasites, Placebo or Games and takes an exploratory, associative approach to the subject, aiming to stimulate curiosity rather than reach a definitive conclusion about the chosen topic. Each show is divided into several parts, featuring interviews with experts and occasional ventures into audience participation and ‘thought experiments’. The programme’s host Jad Abumrad is a trained musician and his background as a composer is evident in the podcast’s approach to sound, where music, speech and effects overlap, forming an integral part of the programme’s experimental, freewheeling ethos.

The Bradshaw Foundation is a privately funded non-profit organisation which exists to discover, document and preserve ancient cave and rock art around the world, and promote the study of early humankind’s artistic achievements. The foundation’s online learning resource contains a wealth of material on prehistoric art along with essays, notes, timelines, links, newsletters, links to research papers as well as useful contextual information on paleoanthropology, archaeology and genetic science. The resource is extensively illustrated with myriad stills of paintings, carvings and artefacts from many of the most significant prehistoric sites around the world. There is now a new film archive section which includes a series of interviews with eminent prehistorians and other audiovisual material. The Bradshaw Foundation’s podcast can be found on iTunes and is free. Other notable resources include a section on the significance of abstract geometric signs in cave art and the journey of humankind from its origins in Africa, shown via an interactive map and timeline.

The NSF is an American Federal Agency which funds research across a wide range of scientific areas, from astronomy to geology to zoology, with the exception of medical science. A particular aim is to fund cutting-edge research: projects and collaborations which may "seem like science fiction today" but tomorrow will be accepted as part of the fabric of everyday life. Their nanoscience page reflects this commitment to pushing back the frontiers of scientific research. The Multimedia Gallery features stills, podcasts, film and video across all fields of science and engineering, again, with an emphasis on current research and development, coupled with an awareness of the foundation’s educational mission.

The site presents a series of lectures, interviews and readings from various conferences and symposia with the emphasis on serious current scientific research and its moral, ethical and philosophical implications. The subjects covered include cognitive science, neuroscience, stem cell research, oncology, evolution and aging. The site has much that is interesting but of particular note are the proceedings of the Beyond Belief conference, a lively wide-ranging conference on science and religion featuring a large group of eminent scientists and philosophers, including Richard Dawkins, biologist and philosopher Francisco J. Ayala, planetary scientist Carolyn Porco and co-founder and Director of The Science Network Roger Bingham. TSN’s website features streaming videos and podcasts, which are also available for download.

To celebrate the range of scientific issues discussed during the Royal Society’s 350th anniversary year the Science Sees Further website has been set up. It offers all those interested in science an opportunity to look at the key scientific issues of today, and those of tomorrow. The site is arranged in 12 chapters based on the subjects of the year’s discussion meetings - the ageing process, biological diversity, cognition and computation, cultural diversity, extra-terrestrial life, geoengineering, global sustainability, greenhouse gases, new vaccines, stem cell biology, uncertainty in science, and web science. Each section comprises an attractive subject summary (authored by the meeting organisers), short historical context using material from the Society’s Centre for History of Science, as well as interactive audio and video material.
