    A project sponsored by Cambridge University and The Wellcome Trust that gives researchers the opportunity to work with filmmakers and artists to make short documentaries about their work. The resulting 13 films are accessible and engaging. Titles in the series include Rise of the Machines with two shorts: Pain in the Machine, which looks at the possibilities and challenges of creating a robot that feels pain,and Friend in the Machine, which considers relationships with robots, Morphogenesis, Dish life and DNA Origami: folding on the smallest scale.

    This selection of sponsored films is presented by the National Film Preservation Foundation, in partnership with the Library of Congress and the Internet Archive. There are 102 films in total: the selection was made from The Field Guide to Sponsored Films by Rick Prelinger. This annotated filmography singles out 452 sponsored films of particular historical, cultural, and artistic interest from the more than 300,000 thought to have been made in the USA. Most of the films are available to download and are accompanied by detailed synopses and contextual information.

    This podcast was created to accompany a month-long educational project held in Dublin during 2015. The project was created by Dr Shane Bergin (School of Physics, Trinity College Dublin) and Dr Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin (School Of Mathematics & Statistics, University College Dublin) and aimed to make physics part of Dubliners’ everyday conversation by putting notices, posters and projections on public transport, the sides of buildings etc. in order to spark people’s interest and curiosity. In the podcasts, the City of Physics team introduce a variety of highly-regarded scientists to talk about their inspirations and ideas, covering subject such as how physics fits in with the other sciences, and how to talk and communicate about science to a general audience.
