It consists of television programmes and films dating back to 1896. This historically valuable material has been donated by the most famous names in Natural History broadcasting, as well as a host of specialist and private collections. The project is also collecting behind the scenes photographs, and recording video interviews with industry pioneers. The resulting collection is freely available and is being stored at high resolution in the WildFilmHistory media vault for the benefit of future generations. IMPALA (Informal Mobile Podcasting and Learner Adaptation) is a Higher Education Academy-funded project researching into the use of podcasts in university teaching and learning. It has produced its own series of podcasts offering guidance for staff on how to use this resource. There is also a blog providing up-to-date information on the project. A linked project, IMPALA 2, is investigating the impact of podcasting on student learning in Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (GEES), and delivers testable and transferable models of using podcasting for learning in these subjects. IMPALA4T investigates the use of ‘student created’ podcasts to support the transition of students into higher education. The project seems to have concluded but the website contains much useful information.

The Wildlife Focus website was set up by the World Land Trust early in January 2008 to offer unique, high-quality multimedia content showing wildlife in remote South American rainforests. There is live footage from three webcams, one in the cloud forest of Ecuador and two in the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest. Each webcam is visited by a wide variety of rainforest wildlife including many hummingbird species, brightly coloured tanagers, parakeets and toucans. The site also streams video clips of other birds and rainforest animals filmed at Buenaventura and other reserves. The quality of the live images is extremely good, except when temporarily affected by climatic conditions. The site also offers podcasts and a virtual tour to show more about endangered wildlife and their habitats - and the conservation efforts needed to keep them safe.

Freedocumentaries.org strongly believes that in order to have a true democracy, there has to be a free flow of easily available information. Unfortunately, many important perspectives, opinions and facts do not make it to our televisions or cinemas, so the site was set up to allow anyone with an internet connection to watch a movie and educate themselves or simply explore another perspective whenever they want., free of charge. The site also enables the work of independent filmmakers to be accessible. Documentaries are arranged in the categories: 9/11 and London Bombing; Activist ; Animal Abuse; Election Fraud; Environmental ; Female-Focused; George Bush; Globalization; Health; Human Rights; Media; Politicians; Religious; Slavery; Societal; War Documentaries.

The European Commission has launched EUTube, a dedicated channel on YouTube, to make more widely accessible its audiovisual material explaining its policies and actions on issues which concern citizens across the EU – such as climate change, energy or immigration. The non-exclusive arrangement between the European Commission and YouTube aims to present new and innovative ways of informing people on the activities of the European Union through video clips that illustrate the main issues facing citizens from across the 27 member states. Currently, users can watch approximately 50 video clips on a wide-range of topics - from the EU’s first post-war historical steps to today’s need to safeguard the environment and combat climate change. Initially much of the material was in English, but French and German language versions are being added.
