ScienceHack is a search engine for science videos. The site does not itself host videos but indexes them from sources such as YouTube and Metacafe. All videos included in the database have been approved by a panel of scientists for accuracy and quality. At the moment there are relatively few videos listed under each topic heading, but a section on the home page lists latest additions to the database.

A collection of images of work produced by students at the RCA from 1960 to 2002 in the fields of fine and applied art, design and communications. The majority of images are installation shots taken from final-year degree shows, representing the culmination of each student’s time at the RCA. The initial selection (August 2010) of over 5,000 images is drawn from the College’s collection of around 30,000 slides of student work. It features the work of hundreds of students across all departments, including animation, architecture & interiors, ceramics & glass, communication art & design, design products, fashion, metalwork & jewellery, industrial design, painting, photography, sculpture, stained glass, textiles, vehicle design and printmaking. Use of the images is restricted to non-commercial use and teaching.

Discovery Access is a stock footage archive, launched in 2011, giving worldwide access to more than 100,000 hours of non-fiction footage from Discovery’s 28 entertainment networks. From the website producers, directors and anyone in need of footage can search, preview, license and download clips of animals and nature, architecture, engineering, CGI, culture, medicine, mind, body, science, space, technology, travel and exploration, innovation, time lapse, etc. New content is added to the website on a daily basis.

To celebrate the range of scientific issues discussed during the Royal Society’s 350th anniversary year the Science Sees Further website has been set up. It offers all those interested in science an opportunity to look at the key scientific issues of today, and those of tomorrow. The site is arranged in 12 chapters based on the subjects of the year’s discussion meetings - the ageing process, biological diversity, cognition and computation, cultural diversity, extra-terrestrial life, geoengineering, global sustainability, greenhouse gases, new vaccines, stem cell biology, uncertainty in science, and web science. Each section comprises an attractive subject summary (authored by the meeting organisers), short historical context using material from the Society’s Centre for History of Science, as well as interactive audio and video material.

EBST Online is the new home and access point for the vocational training programmes produced by the Educational Broadcasting Services Trust and consortia of further and higher education institutions, with input from business and industry. The Skillset, Shotlist and Maths for Engineers series cover areas including biology, engineering, interpersonal skills, maths, plumbing, psychology, brickwork, and carpentry & joinery. Shotlist, part of the EBS Trust, produces subject-specific video materials for teaching and research, which are distributed at minimal cost to all UK education establishments, who are also able to purchase sub-masters from which they are permitted to copy, re-edit, and re-format the programmes according to their own needs. The site gives descriptions of the videos by subject: Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Engineering, Information Systems, Practical Maths, Psychology, and a series of lectures on Irish literary figures including Joyce, Wilde and Yeats.

Designed as a teaching tool for undergraduate students in the US, computer simulations are used here to explore a number of scientific concepts, the main body of which has been split into four main subject areas: Membranes, Fluid Flow, Cracking Dams and Crackling Noise. Apart from the animations, this site also illustrates its topics with stills, diagrams and video clips (viewable through QuickTime) from documentaries as well as from such feature films as Superman (1978) and The Dam Busters (1955).
