The website accompanying the BBC Radio 4 series In Our Time, in which Melvyn Bragg and guests discuss the history of ideas, has been redesigned, and the Archive section now makes every episode broadcast since the series began in 1998 available to listen to again via RealPlayer. Programmes are searchable by title, genre (culture, history, philosophy, religion, science) and by era, from prehistoric to 20th century. Recent programmes are available as podcasts, and an e-mail newsletter gives Melvyn Bragg’s personal insight into the latest programme.

Test Tube is a website featuring videos produced by Brady Haran, filmmaker-in-residence at Nottingham’s Science City. Since 2007 his weekly posts have followed the highs and lows of life as a scientist, showing the reality of life in the lab, from the joys of discovery to the disappointment of funding rejection. The archive contains some 300 videos, and the University of Nottingham, which overseas the project, has extended Test Tube and it remains an ongoing project.

BIBS is an interactive television system constructed using Internet2 Mbone IP-Multicast technology and Real Networks streaming media technology, being developed on the UC Berkeley campus to support distance learning, distributed collaboration, and interactive television applications. BIBS produces live webcasts, then archives these for on-demand replay (at least 100 Kbs bandwidth required). The schedule for 2001 includes lecture series on General Biology, General Chemistry, Computing, Classic Myths, Aging, Microelectromechanical Systems, Mathematics, Nutrition and Physics. Most of the lectures use Real Media and the individual schedules are clearly laid out, although not all lecture titles are given. This site is no longer active, but the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine offers a capture of the website as it appeared on 13/10/2007. This does not include access to the moving images.
